not even sure how to respond to that, since we both know that it's untrue, and therefore it can only be taken as either a) a joke, or b) an attempt at an insult. but for either of those to be taken as serious options homosexuality would have to be taken as something to be ashamed of, or something laughable, of which it is neither. it's 2011, finch, get with the program.

i really don't get that mentality at all, it's just not funny. not even a bit. you know i have a gay dad, so making homophobic remarks whether they're outright or not is obviously not going to land with me.

you are, because making out like i'm a closet case - which would have to be the case, since oh i don't know, i have a baby, a load of exes you know personally and i've fucked your wife a few million times - implies that i would have some reason to be in the closet. and since it can't be fear of my peers, given that academia has always been pretty positive towards the gays, and it can't be fear of my parents for obvious reasons, then there must just be something inherently wrong with being gay that would provide some source of shame for me. which it wouldn't. i'm not going to labor the point, but it's just one of billions of examples of unchecked homophobia that goes on in average day-to-day discourse, and it's getting tedious.

i actually made out like it was a common misconception, recurrent in everyday life, you're just being sensitive. which is ironic, really, when you consider that you're the one inadvertently insulting my dad and i'm not holding it against you.

why do you translate everything as an attack? like, you actively chose to read that as an attack, there was no implicit aggression. i have a friend doing psych, she'd love to talk to you!
