a disaster waiting to happen. honestly, i don't have a clue where we went wrong with florrie. she was always such a happy young girl, full of life and energy, but she also always did as she was told. she was taken off her path by those friends of hers. she had a steady boyfriend in high school that we anticipated her marrying - i mean, she had the perfect life laid out in front of her! then one day his parents called me and informed me that she had broken up with him. why? for absolutely no other reason besides the fact that she could. it was such a scandal, but it was no preparing us for her departure for new york shortly then after. she just packed up her things and left with that girl she calls a friend.

florrie is the next typical housewife. stick her in a 1940's dress, crisp white apron, pin her hair up and dye in blonde and there you go. she was a walking, talking replica of her mother. well, kind of. her mother was an eloquent speaker whereas florrie seemed to have trouble putting together a string of coherant vocabulary that my ears could understand. i graded a paper of hers once and she actually wrote "idk" as more than one response. she graduated with fairly average grades, but she went off to nyu, so she must have aspirations to do something great.

amazing, of course. granted, we haven't exactly been friends since we were about thirteen, but the few times we've met on the street or even around campus at nyu, she seems like she's grown up and become a pretty fun girl to be around. when i knew her then she was very wrapped around what her parents wanted her to do in life and not so much what she should be doing in life. i always expected her to be one of those girls that got married a dozen times before finding the right one or getting tired of all the divorces and weddings. she seems to have slowed down though, it's good for her.
--- my ex is biased, but...
florrie's an interesting girl. she's fun to hang out with but i don't think she ever took us seriously. she did whatever i asked of her and we very seldom argued because she always just ignored me when i tried to bring up something annoying she's done. if i ever wronged her, she never said shit. it was sort of annoying at times, but it was one of those things that all the girls in her group did. it was like we were transported back to the forties and suddenly women had no rights anymore. our parents desperately wanted us to get married and i did love her so i was down with it, but i guess she had a revelation or something because she broke up with me and a week later was on a train to new york. shocked me.
--- i've always thought of myself as...
brilliant! i've always just gone with the flow of things, but one day it just became too frustrating to just go with everything my parents were trying to set up. i didn't want to get married and settle down the second i graduated high school. i wanted to live my life and find my own husband. eventually.
all in all, i am... fun, happy, loving, awesome, me![/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]
