------A restless leg batted dully off of the edge of the couch as cassius sat with his phone in his lap. waiting for a call from not only his lawyer, but maybe harley, telling him that she’d opted to drop the case, or maybe zelda, telling him she was over whatever it was he had done to piss her off. as three different thirty minute episodes of two and a half men had passed, the cell phone hadn’t once rung. it went without any hesitation that he decided he could for once contact these people, or at least harley and zelda. as he was positive whatever it was his lawyer had to say would only worsen his mood. and without much surprise, harley’s cell phone going straight to voicemail did the same. it baffled his mind that she could actually go as far as turn her cell phone off, as if he hadn’t deserved that. but then again, self pity had always been a forte when it came to cassius. clenching his fingers deep into his palms he let out a deep breath, attempting to keep his anger that he practically become him as of late in. after a few more moments, he dialed that same familiar number, only to hear his daughter’s voice on the other end of the line, informing any caller that her mother was not available. the innocent voice on the other end of the line managed to bring a smile to his withered features, but it wasn’t long before his mind was racing back and forth as to where harley and alessia actually were. had she actually gone as far as getting married? fleeing the country? in the past he would have never even imagined these actions being taken, but now, there wasn’t much he wouldn’t put past the mother of his child.
---RISING from the couch he made it straight into the kitchen, opening the fridge to see nothing but a case of beer and takeout from nights prior. as his eyes rested upon the case of beer, he could vividly recall the last night he’d seen zelda. after one too many of those beers, and a few too many pills, his anger was let out on her, probably the one person who’d done virtually nothing to him. a sense of remorse came over him, and he found himself reaching into his pocket. taking out his phone, he immediately texted her, and while he’d have liked to apologize, that was not one of his strong points. it turned into a whole other debacle quicker than he’d thought it would. but just as quickly as it had gone bad, it had gone good again, and he was racing down the apartment stairs to his car. thinking before speaking was not something cassius did often, most words were let out in a form of word vomit, and most of them were things he’d regret saying later on. but for a brief moment he was thinking of what he could possibly say to her. i’m sorry for taking it all out on you didn’t seem good enough, but it was all he could think of saying that could possibly make matters between the two better. but as he walked into the familiar bedroom, it was almost as though words wouldn’t be necessary for a single second. the television was still on, but the girl he’d came to see was not watching, instead sleeping quite peacefully. attempting to not wake her abruptly, he took a few slow steps towards the bed, and sat on the edge beside her. he lingered for a moment to see if she’d wake up on her own, but as a minute passed and she hadn’t, he wiped the stray wispy hairs from her face and place a kiss on her forehead. his lips rested in the same spot as he spoke against her skin, “get up.. you were awake fifteen minutes ago.” his tone was light, and not unbearably overcoming for once, as his eyes remained on the sleeping beauty before him. as soon as he saw her hand raising to meet her lazy eyes, he spoke again. “you know you’d be fucked if someone broke in, you’d sleep right through it..” he told her in hopes of the conversation straying from what he’d come to talk about.
