- - - Sitting in a nearly dark room watching her daughter sleep quickly became boring. The lights were turned off, the television was turned on to some infomercial advertising a cooking appliance, but it was muted. It was just becoming light out so sunlight was fliltering past the curtains. They had only arrived in Holland a couple of hours ago, but Ithika was resisting the urge to pick up her things and walk out of the hotel room. She had the tendancy to over-react and recently things seemed to have blown out of proportion. Caspian may have gone back to Greece or where ever he might have adventured to, but there was a part of her that wanted to step back six months and go back to the routine that he brought. He cheated, she'd yell, he'd throw things, and she'd end up on the next flight to who knows where. Ithika had tried to stick it out in New York, she had attempted to play house with Rosie and be the good friend. Slowly the typical restlessness that overwhelmed her built up - not without some help from all the drama that rapidly formed around her life. She checked on Rosie on more time and grabbed her laptop, knowing exactly who was on her mind to call. Even if it was an ungodly hour in the states. Closing the door to the room Rosie was sleeping in, Ithika made herself comfortable on the soft carpetting of the suite. The sound of Skype calling and Isaiah not answering bordered on annoying, but she called again. Checking the time in the states was irrelevant. If it was early morning in Holland, he was obviously awake and had to make time for her.
The second she heard noise, before a picture had even emerged, Ithika went into her fast passed ranting at the boy. "Whatever you're doing, stop! I'm going absolutely insane and I really need you to fix it. Are we going to New Zealand in a few days or not?" Smiling as the picture appeared, it stopped her word flow only momentarily. "You look like you're up to something, tell me everything you've been doing today."
TAGGED isaiah, obviously. NOTES my brain is currently killing, deepest apologies for this sucky thingg.

--- HAVING just stumbled into his flat a mere half an hour ago after a long night, one that could be only vaguely remembered - and yet still recalled when in the presence of opium perfume, grey goose vodka, and cigarette smoke - isaiah felt as if he was being smothered the moment the ringing filled his loft. moonlight filtered through his blinds, casting a cold haze over every surface while the incessant ringing continued; however, whereas the faint light was welcomed - it was his only source of light within the apartment, as it stood - the noise was not. groaning in what could only be annoyance, he shifted onto his elbows, having collapsed onto his bed upon returning home. he took note that he was still clad in the suit from less than an hour prior, his tie haphazardly looped around his neck. "are you aware some people are attempting to sleep?" although there was no one else within the room, his sharply accented voice lashed out, frustration obvious in the tone of his voice as he slid out of his bed. with confusion colouring his face, brows knit over his less than pleased gaze, he peered about the room, attempting to find the noise source. it was only when he noticed his laptop by the window did everything settle into place. someone was skyping him.
--- STUMBLING toward his desk, the unpleasant sound of cracking bones within his neck combating the ringing, he quickly accepted the call, not even bothering to check who it was. the moment ithika's voice reached his ears, though, a grimace turned down his lips. he knew she couldn't see him - he had traipsed into the adjoining bathroom to make himself presentable - but that did not prevent him from shooting a glare toward the offending piece of technology from where her voice drifted. only the night before had he been told by a family member that she had departed to holland with his cousin. that piece of information had made him livid, more so than he had expected it would, and the knowledge that she was currently attempting to converse with him while off with another increased that belligerence tenfold. despite the fact that he acted nonchalant and as if nothing affected him, he was deeply bothered by the fact that he, isaiah valensi, was not a top priority for the beautiful girl with the crystalline eyes.
--- STILL scowling, brow still knitted, droplets of freezing cold water hit his face. hands cupped beneath the flow of water from the faucet as he studied himself in his mirror, trying to make sense of the emotions he was berated with. he wasn't used to this jealousy and he knew the moment he was made to properly interact with ithika, that this would become evident. quickly shutting the tap off with a flick of his wrist, he made to wipe his face across a lush towel before exiting his bathroom, tossing his once knotted tie across the room. "i'm not going to new zealand with you." a silence passed between the two of them as he took a seat at his desk, the set of his shoulders the only indication of his tension. "you actually woke me up. i just got home an hour or so ago." sweeping a hand through his tousled hair - he took note to shower as soon as he was given the chance - he returned his gaze to her, as it had drifted from the screen to the muted and dark scene outside his window. "what is it that you want exactly, ithika? don't you have theodore to keep you entertained?" it was only now that his frustrations became evident, his jealousy as transparent as the glass that separated him from the rest of new york city.

- - - Even though there was no one in view, Ithika knew he had to have been listening to her or at least heard that she was speaking to him. Not getting an immediate response, she took the opportunity to relocate herself and continue fidgetting until she heard his voice. Setting the laptop on the couch, she riffled through her suitcase for a moment, finding a pair of loose-fitting gray sweats. Tugging them over her slender hips, Ithika jumped at the sound of the boys heavily voice. Even the sound of his voice made her happy for a moment - before the actual words began to hit her. Making herself comfortable on the couch, Ithika leaned back against the armrest, propping the laptop against her knees to properly look at the boy. Part of her knew that the back-to-back rejection and departure with his cousin probably wasn't the logical thing to do, but it was buried beneathe the countless excuses that she was attempting to do the right thing by making everyone happy.
- - - There were very few instances where Ithika had allowed herself to simply go out and have a one-night stand. Even when she was with Caspian and claimed she was cheating, more often than not it was out of spite and not truth. While taking a trip with another guy might have seemed odd on the outside, it was done with the best of intentions. She was distraught at the idea that she had hurt someone she was friends with on multiple fronts and was beginning to feel overwhelmbed by the increasing number of enemies she felt like she was building. Her lips curved in an obvious frown at his expression and words. Licking her lips, she allowed her eyes to wander over his appearance and that of his surroundings. you look tired. did you go out or something? Covering up the clear confusion mingled with the jealous thoughts of who he might have been with and what they might have been doing, she placed a firm smile on her lips that anyone could see through. i'm sorry i woke you. i'll let you get back to sleep if you want. i just wanted to talk to you. i was feeling a bit ill and bored and i just wanted to talk to you. is that okay?
Cracking her knuckles and finding a stray thread on one of the pillows, she began to pick at it until it was slowly unrevelling at the hem. - - - Finding that her restlessness wasn't simply going away but finding things to play with, she grabbed the pack of cigarettes sitting on the side table. Quickly placing one between her pursed lips and lighting with two quick flicks of her lighter, Ithika nearly dropped it out of her mouth when she realized that he could see what she was doing. fuck, she mumbled under her breath, grabbing an ash tray to but it out. Smoking was something she was embarassed about doing, she felt immature for feeling the need to do so to relieve her stress and hated doing so in front of people. please don't act like that, isaiah. obviously i'm skyping you for a reason, don't still be mad at me. come on, come to new zealand with me. we move into a cottage in the middle of no where and pretend we're in the lord of the rings. you have to be tired of new york by now! MUSIC degrassi, obvz. c; NOTES i'm highly amused!

--- HAVING been wildly preoccupied by the flashing lights reflecting against the opposite wall of his flat, his attention was brought back to the conversation at hand by the sight of cigarette between her lips, the tip burning brightly amongst the darkness that shrouded her. "since when do you smoke?" the question was curious and nothing else as he peered at her, a look of mild discontent upon his face. ignoring her pleas for him to quit acting as he was - who was she to request that of him? - he withdrew a cigarette from his cigarette case, a monogrammed thing he had received on his eighteenth birthday. "there's a world of difference between skyping with someone and running off to another country with someone." he was well aware that he was acting childishly, his impudence further reinforced by the scowl across his lips. scoffing at her offer, he rolled his eyes, gaze directed toward his shadowed ceiling, as if praying to the gods for some sort of self-control. "i'm not going anywhere with you until you give me a solid answer, ithika." leaving that ultimatum hanging in the air between them, he rose from his seat, sliding off the blazer that adorned his shoulders, taking sour note of the fact that she had been the one to help him purchase it just a few weeks prior.
--- UNDOING the first few buttons of his shirt, the cuffs pushed up to his elbows now, he settled back into his bed, bringing the laptop with him. inhaling deeply, he observed the smoke as it left his lips in curls of white and grey, dispersing into the air above his head. a few more deep drags and he felt the nicotine hit him fully, relaxing his tensed shoulders and feelings of unease and jealousy. it was good to be rid of such unfamiliar emotions. smashing out the tip of the smoke, he focused back on the female upon his screen, his gaze both appraising and nonchalant. "where is theo, anyway? and who is watching rosie?" no matter how aloof he attempted to act, in some sort of twisted pursuit of mystery, there was a part of him that cared deeply for ithika and for all that came with her. her flaws, her perfections, her complexities and quirks - all of them were endearing to him in some way or another, though at times like these, they were what drove him the most mad. he understood her well, or at least, he thought he did, but as he continued to survey her, he felt that familiarity begin to sleep away. despite his claims of knowledge and wisdom, isaiah was a child at heart, desperate to win the approval of those around him while still maintaining some sort of solidarity.
--- AS the moments passed, isaiah seemed unable to cope with the silence as it acted like a suffocating blanket, leaving him uncomfortable. "when will you be back?" he knew it was a silly question to ask and one that would most often leave the lips of a protective husband or boyfriend, but he couldn't help himself. he wanted ithika in ways he wasn't able to properly convey and he knew that was one of his flaws but he felt as if it had protected him from delving any more deeply into the blurred relationship they shared. "why did you leave, anyway?" the more he sat there, chin cradled within the palm of his hand, the more quickly the questions escaped from his lips like an uncontrollable stream. "do you even plan on coming back or is this what you do? just run away when people who care ask for something solid?" there was an accusation in his voice, something that was both surprising and a little bit saddening. it was clear that he cared, but it was even more obvious that he was looking for some sort of reassurance of his importance to her and that in itself was the saddest thing.

- - - As soon as the question left his lips, Ithika already had her excuse prepared, but the moment he said it, all she could manage was a shrug. He seemed so genuinely put off by her that even her typical "talk them to forgiveness" wasn't seemingly like enough to get his attitude to change. watching him withdrawl the cigarette from his own case, she allowed the moment to draw out in silence. what could she say to get him to be okay with her? in her mind there was already one too many people that were angry with her and she wasn't fond of having isaiah on that list. stop doing that, isaiah. i'm being serious here. zivi's already threatening to take rosie because of this trip and i'm not okay with you being upset with me for god only knows what reason,
furrowing her brow in frustration, ithika felt like a child stomping her feet but couldn't help get annoyed that he wasn't happier to see that it was her skyping him at such an ungodly hour. - - - Tapping her nails against the plastic casing of her laptop and licking her lips, she contemplated his ultimatum, but no matter the answer, she couldn't find a good outcome for all parties. blatantly ignoring the question altogether seemed like the much easier response to the situation. you look good. what did you do tonight? mentaling scolding herself for even asking the question, she attempted to feign a smile and hope he didn't give a response she wasn't prepared to hear. even if chances were it wasn't something she wanted to hear, she was only his friend. shrugging once more at his question, ithika made a mental note to call theo or figure out where he was at some point. rosie's asleep and i don't know where theo is - i'm assuming either off somewhere calling annie or waist deep in dutch whores. ithika tried to have some pretense that she was as relaxed as could be, but her arms were still crossed and her face was still tense in a sembalance of a child throwing a temper tantrum. the tone of voice she attempted to was much more successful at being relaxed than she could make herself visably appear. - - - Not being able to find anything to say in the listen frustrated her. she always had something to say and the fact that no matter what came out of her mouth seemed to fail, bothered her a great deal. when he finally asked a question in silence, she puffed out her cheeks and leaned her head back against the couch. internally knowing she had planned on staying as long as she could pass it off as just a vacation. soon, i guess. i left because i wanted to go somewhere outside of new york and i really fucked things up with theo, so i offered to take a trip somewhere to work out our differences. before she was able to continue on the same rant, he asked a question she had heard asked so many times in the last two days that she couldn't help but want to throw her laptop at a wall and fully throw the fit that was building. ithika didn't even know why she was becoming so frustrated with him, it wasn't his fault she was acting childish. things aren't that easy, isaiah. you just asked at such a bad time. please, lets go somewhere. you know how much i care about you, i wouldn't even be talking to you right now if i didn't, but you're not even being fair. i told you to let me figure things out and you're not giving me the chance. and i'd appreciate everyone, including you, not asking me a thousand questions like i'm five years old. taking a deep breath in, ithika let it out slowly, finally uncrossing her arms. she was sure that most of this was her fault, but couldn't help but begin feeling overwhelmed by the continuous interrogation by various people in her life. it wasn't merely isaiah and it wasn't his fault, but he happened to be the final individual to break the barrier. MUSIC cults. NOTES waah, i suck.
