- - - After nearly three and a half hours of wandering around london in a pair of shoes that were beyond uncomfortable and not a clue in the world where she was going, vivenne had finally broken and attempted to ask someone where she was going. of course it had to be someone that was equally foreign to the country and even harder to communicate with. after another twenty minutes of swearing and stomping down the street she had managed to seek directions from someone who knew where she was attempting to go and was able to lead her toward the two blocks to the right that held the building kingsley lived in. the initial goal for the day was to actually get off the couch and see what london was like. it was a failed attempt that left her lost and frustrated, only wanting to return back to the couch and wait for kingsley to return from whatever task he was at for the day. vivenne couldn't help but be frustrated with the concept that she had actually gotten on a plane and gone to another country for a boy that she wasn't dating while her family was under some false impression of her intentions. not to mention that she had to fight tooth and nail to make her boss allow her to take a temporary leave while she was away. it took another while before she managed to find her way back inside the apartment, but once she had, she collapsed into the cushions, vowing not to leave the place alone again unless it was on her way to an airport heading back to new york. - - - Turning on the laptop resting on the coffee table exactly as she had left it the night before, vivenne rapped her finger nails against the plastic casing and waiting impatiently for the screen to brighten. the instant the screen brighten and skype pulled up, she quickly scanned the online list. she knew exactly who she intended on calling. "where are you? i can't figure out where anything is. i woke up and you were gone - which wasn't really pleasant, just so you're aware," the words flowed quickly from her lips as the video loaded his image in front of her. in vivenne's mind she hadn't really the fact that he probably did have errands and work to attend to was completely transparent - just because the blonde was on vacation, did not mean that he had to continue to be as well. continuing her steady tapping on the laptops casing as she rambled about the various bothers of london on her extensive trip attempting to find her way back. "isn't london supposed to be popular for having tons of places to get tea? thats all i wanted was to sit at a coffee or tea shop until you decided to come home from where ever you've run off to. come home." realizing the slight attitude in her tone she corrected the statement by adding a "please," before leaning back against the couch, taking in his surroundings and attempting to figure out if he might have been at work or if somewhere else, where it may have been. tagged kingzzz shacklebolt. music moulin rouge soundtrack, yeah, i'm cool. notes oh my god, i blow at starting these things. - - - Despite the fact that it was late morning and kingsley was still exhausted, the office he sat in, slumped in his chair, was bubbling with life. the newly installed stereo system was plugged into the sirius xm radio that his boss had to have, and the most obscure bands filled the office with noise from the most obscure radio station that could be found. that was his boss’ goal for life; to be on the cutting edge. to listen to the obscure bands now before they became the next big thing. another part of the boss’ company motto was for everyone to always be in the open office where everyone sat at desks facing each other. though his job at the production company, when boiled down, required him answering emails, the boss wanted kingsley in the office to be immersed in what everyone else was doing, to not miss a thing. that was why kingsley had left his flat that morning before vivienne even stirred. he regretted it as he walked towards the nearest underground station that would take him to his office quickly enough to stop for a coffee with one minute to spare without being late to work. while he did regret leaving her in the flat alone and convincing her to fly to london to spend time in his flat alone, he was somewhat glad (and unwillingly to admit) to escape the undefined nature of their relationship. during the day, everything was fine. they walked around london and kingsley took vivienne to see the typical sites, including big ben. at night, however, when he settled into his bed and she onto the pull out couch, it was only a few minutes before viv tiptoed into his bedroom and settled into the bed beside him without an exchanged word. - - - The emails were never ending. kingsley would delete one email only to find it to be replaced with another new, unread email. it was a vicious cycle that occupied most of kingsley’s day. the pop-up of the skype invitation was a break from routine and he immediately accepted it, though he could not hear the beginning of viv’s long winded speech as his sound was off, due to being it pointless to have it on with the music pulsating in the office. turning his sound on quickly and plugging in the headphones that came with his iphone, kingsley caught the end of her rant, about her waking up and he was already gone. “you were sleeping,” he retorted, defending his actions. “it was early, i didn’t want to wake you up.” he treaded carefully around his apartment, not even daring to take a shower, fearing that he would wake her. as viv continued to complain about london, his focus returned back to his work and the mounting emails. nodding his head, to show that he was paying attention, he replied to another email before replying, “you could’ve gotten tea down the street, you know?” kingsley switched screens so that he saw viv’s face again. “i’d rather be home than stuck here. i’ll try to leave early and we’ll get something to eat and maybe a drink at the pub.” he smiled weakly, the best apology he could come up with. “i’ll see if i can work from home tomorrow.” tagged viv. music law & order. notes succs. - - - Six months living in new york and vivenne only has a feeble phlebotomist certification and an repetitive job at a hospital in manhattan. it was the same routine day in and day out; she got up and went to work, drew some blood, sat around doing countless stacks of paperwork, and only occasionally went out with some of the acquaintances at the hospital. for someone that was used to being out and active most of the day, the career path she was currently on was becoming very boring, very fast. despite the fact that she craved a firm control over her life, vivenne needed change, the occasional adrenaline rush, and a change of scenery every now and again. which is how she ended up in london - knowing full well that she couldn't expect kingsley to not go to work daily - without much of an argument against it. she'd only been to london once before and it was only in passing. at least they spoke english so it was easy enough to figure out directions once you figured out where you happened to be situated. however, being alone in the city made it increasingly difficult to find things to do. spotting the boy on the screen as he explained himself, she tensed momentarily, feeling the pressure in her shoulders as he spoke, but even years later, it was too much effort to force herself to be mad at him. especially at things she fully knew was not his fault. "fine, just... let me know when you go to work, okay?" it was about all she could manage to speak without sounding too annoyed at his leaving. even while they were at a weird spot in their relationship - whatever it could be classified as - she didn't see anything wrong with asking him this. - - - Listening as he spoke, vivenne got up to fetch one of the bottles of ginger ale she had bought the previous day. breaking the seal, she nodded her head as if he could see her while walking back to the couch. "i could have, but i couldn't remember where it was." vivenne sat on the couch, her legs tucked beneath herself as she made herself comfortable in the cushions again. "good, if they let you work from home, i'll help you do whatever it is you do. otherwise i'll end up stalking you to work and sit around bothering you and your co-workers. inevitably leading to you being out of a job." downing the amber liquid before continuing, she watched him sit at his desk momentarily. as much as she hated to admit it to herself, vivenne still care for him a great deal. perhaps it was one of the main reasons it annoyed her to such an extent that her brother didn't realize he was her ex, and it was one of the main reasons she took off to london without telling anyone where or why she was going. the fact that she chose to sleep in the same bed as him or expected him to let her cuddle up to him while watching movies would inevitably make things all the more awkward. "i was only kidding about finding an irish drunk in a pub, you know. or better yet, we can just drink at your place and watch really tacky movies. i've decided grind house is my favorite ever." pulling her blonde hair back into a ponytail, vivenne continued to simply watch him at work. taking a sip from her drink occasionally and raising an eyebrow slightly as music that, in her mind, was a bit peculiar for him to be listening to for his job. music the beatles, lolol. notes suxxx [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sup]

- - - IT was not an unreasonable request that viv had. after all, he not only asked her to come to london but insisted that she come, fully aware that there was no chance that he would get out of work, especially after just coming back from a week-long vacation. “i’ll let you know when i leave for work,” he said as his eyes carefully examined viv and where she was in his apartment. he recognized the black chair as the couch in his living room that was technically where she was sleeping, even if she never ended up there. “you can’t be mad at me though for waking you up too early, because you asked for it.” kingsley had to be up at nine in order to make it into the office by ten. for normal people, waking up at nine would be a pleasure, but he was the type that could sleep all day and not get up until three in the afternoon. - - - WHEN viv left the couch and disappeared from the frame, his focus turned back to his work. the skype window was put to the back as he looked at the new emails that popped up that he needed to answer. kingsley was only able to get through one email before he heard viv’s voice again and returned to the skype video chat. “it’s really just answering emails. you can be my secretary and you can type what i say, if you really want to help.” he took a drink from the cup of cold coffee that had done nothing to wake him up this morning. “i think you want me to lose my job because i’ll have no reason to stay in london without it and then i’ll be forced to go back to new york.” sometimes kingsley did wish that he lived in new york again. his entire family was there and most of his friends from high school lived in new york. however, all of his friends from university stayed in london, or at least this side of the atlantic so it only seemed like a natural fit. he smiled when she had mentioned not actually wanting to find an irish man. “don’t worry, i figured you weren’t going to leave me for the irish. i can’t see you being with the evil redheads.” if she had actually wanted to pub and found someone to go home with or even talk to, he did not know if he would be able to handle that. he was not under the impression that since they broke up four years prior that she had stayed completely pure and innocent, but it was an out of sight, out of mind mentality. “staying in sounds good to me. i’ll bring home food. i imagine that you’ll be hungry if you don’t leave the apartment for the rest of the day.” he noticed the expression on her face. “the boss,” he began to say, lowering his voice to a hushed tone. “he likes to pretend he’s hip, as he says.” music nada. notes succs.

- - - sitting in the london loft of someone she had once dated typically was a joke. there was no reason why she ever could have imagined herself sitting in a foreign country for anyone, let alone some boy that she had split with nearly four years previous. as much as she liked to think of herself as independant of the stereotypical girl problems, at the end of the day she was still lured by the idea of spending some time away from everyone with her ex that she repeatedly told herself she didn't care for anymore. hence why she thought it was okay to request for him to tell her when he left and continue to press him on moving back to the states. "fine, i promise i wont complain, but i wouldn't mind if you just quit or something." it was an issue that she didn't think would ever end in her favor, but she couldn't help but ask whenever the opportunity arose. it was just as selfish as it was for her to have thought that he should have been waiting for her when she left for the navy or that he shoud of had to cater to her just because she was bored. - - - that's the perfect job. i can type fairly fast. so your work will be done twice as fast." draining the last sip of the ginger ale, vivenne half listened to what he was actually saying while attempting to pick up the music his office was apparently being forced to listen to. it was definitely obvious that she wouldn't mind if he lost his job and had to move home, but it wasn't easy to openly admit that it was because of her own selfish need to have him around and not because of whatever excuse of the day she happened to pull out of her fictitious hat. "i can't deny that it would be good for you to move back to new york. everyone's there," hesitating a moment to think up some good excuse, she merely shrugged her shoulders before responding, besides, i can't always come running to london because you're cold at night." making a mental note to wash his bed linens before he came home, vivenne knew that he had certainly had other girls around in the four years they'd been seperated but it frustrated, even repulsed her, to think of other girls sleeping in the bed that she had been sharing with him. she liked to think that people couldn't read what she was thinking, but it was as if a movie was playing across her forehead to the outside world. it wasn't hard to pick up the undertones of frustration from the simple statement, even as she tried to cover it up with a smile. "good, and tea. make sure to bring home tea. can we go shopping tomorrow? you've got like, nothing here and if i'm going to have to deal with you working all day, i need food." she wasn't even entirely sure how long she was going to stay or how long her work was going to allow her to be away - she had to be sure to call and find out how long they were allowing her leave. not to mention the fact that her family was sure to start wondering why she had picked up and left her apartment.
