To be simply put, Darsee didn't have enough hours in the day for everything she wanted to get done. While twenty--four hours seemed like plenty (and to some, even gave free time), to her it was wasted. She spent seven hours sleeping. The next seven were usually spent at rehearsal for a play, recording a television show or movie, or auditioning for these television series and movies or Broadway shows. The next five were divided among various things to be completed, like paying bills, doing laundry and other chores, or taking her dog out for a walk. The last five? Usually Darsee spent those hours with people whom she was close with, whether it be her best friend, her sister, or her boyfriend, Ryan. Moving to New York had been a big step for Darsee when she was younger, around nineteen. She hadn't know anyone, and felt lost in the immense city. It was then that she met Staci. The girls met at an audition for a television show about two sisters. Surprisingly enough, both girls were auditioning for the opposite sisterly role. Both girls not only received the part, but became best friends instantly. It was actually Staci's reasoning, however, that brought her to have met Ryan.
Staci had been dating Ryan's cousin. While Darsee didn't mind this at all, it was Staci's constant beg for her to "give Ryan a try, just trust me!" that drove Darsee bananas. Staci believed Ryan would be good for Darsee (actually, her exact words were, "Girl, we've got to get you laid"), and so when Darsee had refused a blind date too many times, she finally just showed up at Darsee's house with Ryan and his cousin. She'd been ready to grill Staci, but the fact that Ryan and herself got along well left Staci off the hook. It turned out Ryan was just as "good" for her as Staci had promised, subtracting the getting laid comment. Their dates turned out impeccable, and Darsee found herself falling for the boy with good hair and a killer smile. Admittedly, he was her first boyfriend, because Darsee used to like to say that she was just, "too busy" for a relationship, when really, no one seemed to interest her. Oh, but Ryan did. He dealt with her signing phrases, and even picked up a few things in sign language himself. He knew about her past, about her dead brother and lesbian sister. She knew how much he wanted to be a director. Darsee understood the desire to complete a dream that he had, because it was just as deep implanted in her. Their relationship, for the most part, came easy.
At the moment, Darsee was curled up on her couch with her dog, Peanut. Dinner was in the oven for the couple, because Darsee figured it would be a nice gesture for their night staying in instead of going out with the rest of New York nightlife. Peanut was named purposely - Darsee was allergic to peanuts. She'd received the dog as a gift from her parents when she was in the hospital due to an allergic reaction from a peanut incident, and henceforth came about the name Peanut. Ryan was supposed to be coming over tonight, but the time of his arrival was vague to Darsee. She had been out pretty much all day today running around, and the two never really settled on a certain time, which was fine with her. That just gave her more time to soak in the bath tub. Now, on the couch however, she wandered what time Ryan indeed would be over. lazily frisking her hand over the end of the couch to the end table, she let her hands feel the top for her phone until she felt the cool piece of metal on her fingertips. grabbing it up, she sent a simple text message over to the boy. "Are ya almost here?" There, done.
There was so much to do this week, and Darsee moaned just thinking about it as she waited for the kitchen timer to go off. She'd gotten the spot in a music video, which meant tons of choreography and dancing. The director was also choreographing, and Darsee had spent the majority of the day with him rehearsing. Now, she wasn't complaining about being with him for the whole day. He was great looking, gorgeous even, and she loved seeing him dance. A girl could certainly look at him for days and never run sick. However, it was practicing every little move that drove her crazy, and when he'd asked her for lunch, she'd hightailed it out of there, no matter how important he could be to her future or how cute his butt was. She just wanted to go home and soak in bubbles. The timer went off, and Darsee stood from the couch reluctantly to check the food that was sending out aromas of just goodness. She couldn't wait to eat, but would definitely wait until Ryan arrived. Traditionally in Ireland, a woman didn't eat any "official" meal until her significant other was fed first, and it was something Raeleigh, her mother, had instilled upon her. so, pulling the steaming baked chicken pasta out of the oven with oven mittens, she set it out to cool a little, going to set the table in the dining room. Darsee poured two tall glasses of water, and brought out a bottle of champagne, just in case. When the dish was cool enough she brought it out and set it atop the table. Perfect. She grinned, and for an added touch lit up two slender, tall candles. Now it was really perfect. Figuring he would be here any minute now, Darsee fell back on the couch, laying comfortably as she waited.
