[/sub][/font]------ he was a mess. from new york to chicago, london to ibiza, there was no place he could escape to. everywhere he went, there were reminders of her. every woman he saw was her. it was as if he was living a nightmare and the demon within was a ghoulish caricature of the woman who had claimed to love him when all she had done was lie.
but that wasn't fair.
not as if that mattered to him, though. he was obstinate in his views, immovable in his complete anger towards the female that he had once so fully given himself to. from the trinkets to the profound acts of love and affection, he had spent more time and effort on her than he had ever before. anna had taken everything from him - or at least, that's how he saw it. but then again, malcolm was a notoriously selfish person who did poorly when in the company of others. he just wasn't suited to spending time with others, with having to care about another and putting effort into any sort of bond. he was a pretentious young man who had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a total lack of empathy. who could blame him for the distrust and anger he felt towards the strawberry blonde that he had committed himself so fully to?
he wasn't without blame, though, as is the case with most tales of heartbreak and despair. full of pride and a headstrong personality that few could handle, he had committed his fair share of atrocities during their relationship. he had run when she had needed him, left without a word when he had felt things were becoming too much. as brave as he acted, he was a coward in every sense of the word, unable to commit to anything fully.
and that was why he was back in new york, taking up residence in the penthouse at 970 park avenue with someone who was equally as damaged as himself. it wasn't the greatest of company - hell, it was seldom the two were even in the building at the same time - but it was better than remaining in chicago where everyday, he was made to pass by the apartment that his former love had purchased. at least in this city, he had enough to keep him occupied into the early hours of the morning.
