KitchenSync is a collection of file/folder/media synchronization utilities, and it runs in the background on your Mac....
- iTunes Sync manages all your media files on external drives, USB sticks etc. Whenever you plug in a removable disk drive or USB stick, it can scan the drive for movies and music and automatically add them to your iTunes library. When you remove the drive, iTunes Sync removes the entries from iTunes.
- Disk Sync synchronizes files and folders. It is commonly used to let you make a copy of your media files onto a USB stick, take that drive to another computer, use it, update it and when you bring it back- to merge the changes back into the master. I wrote it so that I could take a subset of my 6TB of movies over to friends and family or out to the cottage- play the media. Maybe add, edit or remove some and when I go back home- to have the changes get propagated back to my file server. Without Disk Sync, I had to manually keep track of what changed or was added or removed. Disk Sync does this for you.
